Twelve Minutes Sonata by Neil Bones, released 28 August 2020

Twelve Minutes is an interactive thriller about a man trapped in a time loop. I’m responsible for the game’s soundtrack with various contributions to the sound design. The soundtrack is mixture of cinematic tones and textures, expressive orchestral foley and melodic symphonies.

The direction for the game’s soundtrack was naturalistic, cinematic, tense and suspenseful. It was important to balance the urgency of the thriller side of the narrative with the contemplative nature of puzzle solving, resulting in creative uses of violin and cello bow sounds and impactful songwriting to carry and support the dialogue and story.

I used a combination of live instruments and expressive MIDI instruments with Ableton, Logic Pro X, and SWAM Audio Modeling as my music making tools. FMOD was also used to implement the sounds into the game, which uses Unity.

The soundtrack is available now on Bandcamp, Apple Music, Spotify and Steam.
